Personal profile

Barbara Zipser's field of research is medicine from Antiquity to the late Middle Ages, mostly in Latin and Greek, with an emphasis on textual criticism, manuscript transmission, and vernacular Greek. She is currently leading an international collaboration between RHUL (History and Geology), Kew Gardens, Zurich University of Applied Sciences and Haifa University. It is a Collaborative Wellcome Award to develop a methodology for the identification of medicinal plants and minerals. She also runs Simon Online (http://www.simonofgenoa.org), a Latin-Greek-Arabic dictionary of medical terminology.

Dr Zipser recently appeared on the Raw TV documentary "The Child in the Box. Who killed Ursula Herrmann", the second best performing documentary of the year on Sky Germany. She conducts linguistic analysis of forensic materials for journalists, lawyers and a leading profiler.
