General
The broad area of research that I am exploring for my PhD is Social Development in children. My PhD thesis is: "The Influence of Gender On Judgement and Action In Prosocial Behaviour Development In Children: Investigating stereotypes". This research looks to explore how stereotypes that are held about prosocial behavior, in particular the acceptability of these actions by each gender, change over the school years. There is a particular focus on how boys are viewed with regards to prosocial behaviour, as reputations and expectancy about boys in the early teen years can be powerful influences on everyday behaviour.
I also belong to the Social Development Lab in the department of Psychology at Royal Holloway.

Teaching
I have a real passion for teaching and in my first year of my PhD I have been fortunate enough to be able to undertake teaching both on a small and large scale. I successfully managed and taught 2 tutorial groups of 7/8 students, which involved teaching fundamental essay skills that they would be using, hopefully, throughout their degree programme.
I was also invited to give a lecture at the end of March 2010 on a 3rd year undergraduate course "Gender and Psychology". The lecture was titled: "Gender differences in Aggressive Behaviour" and the lecture explored the different developmental trajectories for aggressive behaviour for each gender, as well as the explanatory models for these differences.
