Personal profile

I am a second year PhD student looking at factors affecting the accuracy of eyewitnesses during cross-examination interviews. My first study examined the influence of 'refreshed testimony' on eyewitness accuracy - looking to see whether witnesses who watch a video of their original interview before being cross-examined are more consistent and accurate than witnesses who are not given the opportunity to watch their interview. I have recently been looking at police experiences of delivering refreshed testimony to witnesses and I am continuing to look at the effects of refreshing on witness performance.

Research interests

I am interested in factors affecting eyewitness memory, particularly interview and memory techniques that increase the amount of accurate information reported by a witness.

The accuracy and consistency of a witness within investigative interviews, compared to cross-examination interviews, is also of interest to me.

I am an active member of the Royal Holloway Eyewitness Group and the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (iIIRG). Please click on the links for more information about these groups and the work that they do.

Educational background

I completed my M.A. (Hons) Psychology degree at the University of St Andrews in 2009. I continued my study at St Andrews, graduating with a M.Res Psychology in November 2010.

I am currently a PhD candidate at Royal Holloway, University of London.
