History of medicine and health (and in particular history of general practice under the National Health Service)
History of family and household (especially family, home and food)

I'm interested in supervising PhDs in the following areas:

Oral history
Oral history and public history
Oral history and medicine
The recent history of primary care

I teach The Voice of the Public: Oral History in Public History ( (HS5462) as part of the MA.

I'm a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (41044) with an interest in e-learning, skills based learning and assessment types.

Chair of the Oral History Society.

Other work

I'm currently a member of the College's IT user group and was a member of the College's Research Ethics Committee.

I have held a number of administrative positions in the department including dealing with admissions for MA History and having responsibility for the MA Public History and MA History web pages.
