- Narrative and memory in oral history
- The social psychology of oral history
- Public history and oral history
- History of medicine and health (and in particular history of general practice under the National Health Service)
- History of family and household (especially family, home and food)

I'm interested in supervising PhDs in the following areas:
- Oral history
- Oral history and public history
- Oral history and medicine
- The recent history of primary care
During Autumn term 2011 I'm responsible for our MA in Public History and I teach The Voice of the Public: Oral History in Public History ( (HS5462) as part of the MA.
I also teach on the following undergraduate courses:

- HS1008 Doing History: Researching and Writing Critical History from Antiquity to Contemporary Times

- HS3103 Comparative History and Historiography
I'm a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (41044) with an interest in e-learning, skills based learning and assessment types.

Chair of the Oral History Society.
Other work
I'm currently a member of the College's Research Ethics Committee as well as the ITAUG.
I have held a number of administrative positions in the department including dealing with admissions for MA History and having responsibility for the MA Public History and MA History web pages.
