Personal profile
My research interests focus on child mental health and family functioning. I have completed research exploring the process of therapy and successful therapy outcomes for systemic and cognitive-behavioral therapies delivered to children and their families. Through work on an MRC project I developed a manual for systemic family therapy and developed this for use in research and training. I have a particular interest in mental health services for for children and adults who have a learning disability. I have developed an NHS mental health care pathway for children with learning disabilities and conducted research into the adaptations to systemic therapy required to meet the needs of clients with a learning disability. I have also completed a number of projects with schools, exploring children's mental health, stigma and perceptions of mental health problems.
