My research lies in political and urban geography, and focuses on the impact of conflict on urban life in Lebanon. I analyse how cities become targets of war (urbicide), how cosmopolitanism and sectarianism shape cities, and how cities are produced as spaces of multiple sovereignty arrangements. My wider research interests include questions of geopolitics, post-colonialism, urban governance and security, radicalisation, and protest.
