Description
While all but forgotten now, private theatricals were at the heart of country house display and seasonal festivity at the end of the long eighteenth century. This project brings together a network of scholars, theatre practitioners and partners from the heritage industry to investigate the theatre, gender and literary histories of this forgotten art as well as to investigate new ways of using these histories to help new generations understand and enjoy Britain's stately homes.
